ABOUT 240 people illuminated the Deep Water Point foreshore as part of the inaugural City Melville GLOW Riding event last month.
As part of Bike Week celebrations cyclists of all ages decorated in lights, neon paint and high-vis clothing joined for the 7km ride.

Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the free community event was a good way to encourage safe cycling practices and promote the physical and mental benefits of bike riding.
“The City has many cycle paths and residential roads ideal for taking a twilight ride or stroll and with over 18km of foreshore, abundant parks and open green spaces, getting out and cycling could not be easier,” he said.
“Let’s GLOW Riding showed families, neighbours and the local community how safe it is to ride at night and encouraged riders to be more visible and use residential roads and shared paths for recreational riding both day and night.”
Travel Smart Officers encouraged beginner, avid and recreational cyclists to explore other cycle routes in the City and to keep their bikes decorated so they could take impromptu twilight or night rides with family, friends and neighbours.
