After more than 12 months of planning, the club celebrated its new look during race day earlier this month with members all enjoying the new facilities.

Club fundraising co-ordinator Sandra Wilson-Savill said the upgrade was made possible after receiving $17,000 in local and State Government funding.

The club applied for the Department of Sport and Recreation Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) and received $8626, which the City of Melville matched.

Ms Savill said it was something that needed to be done to improve the facilities to national standards..

‘When my daughter joined the club I could see it was a good, family-friendly club but lacking in facilities,’ she said. ‘I asked what do you need and set about sourcing grants.’

‘The new ramp and gate brings us into line with the other BMX clubs in WA.’

Ms Savill said a lot of work had been put in by members to have it up and running by the start of the season. ‘We had busy bees for the past six weeks before the season started,’ she said.
