THE Leeming community will come together for a barking good time.

The 10th annual Santa Paws event will be at Peter Ellis Park on December 1, with more than 100 people expected to attend.

Organiser Rob Taddeo said people could expect a sausage sizzle, showbags for their dogs and a blessing of the dogs from Pastor Bruce Hyde.

“There are two sponsors, Matrix Realty and Vet to Pets, who will bring down their vet van and provide advice for dog owners,” he said.

“Each year we’ve raised money for Guide Dogs WA and people can chuck in a gold coin donation. Over the years we’ve raise a couple of grand.

Mr Taddeo said the event was an opportunity to meet neighbours and the event was being supported by Neighbourhood Watch.

“We get between 100 to 150 people each year and about 80 to 100 dogs,” he said. “There has been a new playground installed at the park thanks to the work of some local mums, so kids can muck around on that too.”
