CORPUS Christi College Year 9 student and flautist Megan Schutte has earned the prestigious Owen Fisenden Award for 2017.

The award is given to the top student achieving A+ in grades 5 or 6 flute in Western Australia in any given year.

The award has been difficult to win, going unclaimed for a number of years prior to Megan’s achievement.

Megan received the award from the Australian Music Examinations Board of WA at an official ceremony on March 11.

“I feel so honoured to have been given this award. I can hardly believe it,” the Year 9 student said.

Her flute teacher, Joanne Robertson, said Megan is an exceptional talent.

“I have taught Megan since she was a beginner, for over five years, and I absolutely love working with such a passionate and dedicated student,” she said.
