A 57-year-old cyclist died last night after he hit the back of a stationary bus in Melville.

Police say the man was riding his bicycle along Marmion Street at 4.40pm yesterday when he crashed into the rear of the bus, which had stopped as it was picking up and dropping off passengers.

The man sustained serious head injuries.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital, but died not long after he was admitted.
