THE Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) is battling a scrub fire near the Kwinana Freeway in Bateman.
Seven crews are on the scene, fighting a blaze that is now about 150 metres long.
Police have been called to the scene to manage traffic and they have closed the South Street exit southbound with heavy smoke affecting the area.
Extreme caution is advised.
