Dome replaces the former Deep Water Point Cafe, which closed in July 2016 after more than six years of operation.

The new cafe, which was previously expected to open in December, is part of a wider upgrade of the popular precinct, which includes a new jetty, foreshore revetment, an improved boat ramp and upgrades to the change rooms.

Despite there being no fixed establishment over the last two years, reserve visitors have been getting their coffee fix in the meantime thanks to the popular Kerbside Cafe.

Owner Clint Gardner told Community News he would soon relocate to Mt Henry Bridge Reserve, a 1.5km shift south along The Esplanade.

Mr Gardner was sure his regulars would follow.

“There will be a few challenges but we’re confident we can make it work,” he said.

“The community definitely want an alternative. They want something different.”
