Family raises money for Dogs’ Refuge Home

Aaron CorlettMelville Gazette

A MT Pleasant family has helped put together a charity event that had tails and tongues wagging.

The Dunn family raised $320 for the Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park by holding a walk along the foreshore in Attadale on June 15.

About 25 family and friends attended the event after James Dunn (7) was inspired to help the abandoned dogs.

Mother Amanda Dunn said they were a “dog family” and believe the animals should be treated right.

“It’s quite amazing to see how much a difference just a boy can make,” she said.

“We hope his efforts will inspire more young children to follow suite and maybe organise their own charity walks.”

James said he was amazed about how money was raised because he felt they would only raise $50.

“I felt so relieved for the puppies when I handed over the donation to the dog shelter.”
