Following in the footsteps of New York Fashion Week, Garden City marketing manager Clare Riley said the centre planned to mirror the variety of its shoppers.

“We want to represent all the faces, shapes, sizes and walks of life of the women who wear our clothing,” she said. “As society evolves, so does fashion and we want to respond to this in a way that is inclusive to all women.”

Kenyan-born Deel Ojulu, who now lives in Mt Pleasant, is one of the models preparing to walk the runway.

“I’ve been modelling for around four years; it all started when I was on my way home from the city for a quick shop after school and someone tapped me on the shoulder at a traffic light crossing,” she said.
