POINT Walter Golf Course can lay claim to hosting a Guinness World Record after Perth YouTubers How Ridiculous sunk a 120m putt at the Bicton venue last month.

After switching from the eighth to fifth hole, it took Brett Stanford just over two hours to drain the shot with mates Derek Herron and Scott Gaunson watching on.

“We started on the eighth but there is a large section of rough before the green to prevent people rolling the ball up onto it,” Mr Stanford said.

“We tried it for a while but just decided it wasn’t working; the fairway was too bouncy and the rough was just too thick.

“So we had a look at the different holes and worked out that five was flat, there was no rough and we could roll it right up onto the green.

“Within the first 10 or 15 minutes of trying it I think we knew we were in with a very good chance.”

Mr Herron said the trio selected Point Walter Golf Course for its greenery and views of the Swan River, which feature prominently in the video of the world record putt.

“The course was really accommodating, (manager) Clarke Osborne was able to give us not just an hour at the end of the day but full run at it for two days which is crucial to getting these sorts of shots in,” he said.

It is the second world record held by the YouTube sensations, who also boast the longest basketball shot; currently set at 180m but already bettered four times by the boys.

With more than 560,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel, the pressure is always on to up the ante but the trio are keeping their cards close to their chest.

“We always have things planned but we’re pretty secretive about it, mainly because we just don’t know if we can pull everything off until we try,” Mr Stanford said.

“Some more golf stuff would be great but we’d also love to break another basketball world record.”
