POLICE have released images of a man and a woman they would like to speak to in relation to the theft of a car, with a child inside, on October 11.

The incident occurred on Denien Street where a Ford Territory was parked, next to another car, around 6.25pm on a Sunday.

The owner of the car, a 29-year-old man, left his 11-month-old son asleep in the car, while he was inspecting a nearby property.

He saw a man and a woman walking past the property, before the man approached the car and entered the driver’s seat.

He reversed it from the driveway.

The owner of the car and his brother tried to open the door and jump onto the bonnet, but they could not stop it from being driven away.

As the offender drove away, he hit the car parked next to the Ford.

He drove east, before turning into Wheyland Street and crashing into a Holden Commodore.

The offender abandoned the car and ran away.

The car owner and his brother chased the car and found it crashed, with the child inside.

The child was not hurt during the incident.

The woman, who was walking with the man, remained at the Denien Street address.

During this time, she was involved in an altercation with the child’s mother, before she walked away and left the area .

The man is described as dark skinned, with a blue shirt and black shorts.
