With more than 141 sales already registered, the City of Melville is currently second in Western Australia for registered sellers taking part in the Garage Sale Trail.

Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the event was a great way to dispose of unwanted items, embrace sustainability, and meet neighbours and new friends, all while raising money.

“The community is spoilt for shopping choices this year,” he said. “I’ve already jumped online and planned out my treasure trail with my granddaughter.

“There are loads of sales in each suburb, all with a variety of items for sale, and with the large group sales, everyone is spoilt for choice.

“The City offers Friendly Neighbourhoods Grants of up to $250 to the community to help with events such as this.

“See if you are eligible to apply for funds to put towards promotion, catering, music or any other activities on the day, or even host a street party with your neighbours.”

There are a limited number of grants available.
