HIGH school students scrubbed in for “surgery” and learned how to suture a wound during Australia’s first Future Doctors Program, held in Nedlands recently.

Thirty students, including Kennedy Baptist College’s Sally Foster, were selected from schools across the nation to take part in the program at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

“Studying medicine is a big commitment and entry is very competitive,” program director Anton Scheepers said.

Students took part in a week of workshops and discussions from January 16.

Most participants were from WA, and Scitech helped host the event.
