Man charged after exposing himself at prominent hotel and then jumping into river

A MAN will face court after allegedly exposing himself at the Raffles Hotel on Saturday and then jumping into the Swan River from the nearby Canning Bridge.

Palmyra Police acting office-in-charge sergeant Gary Thwaites said a 33-year-old man was intoxicated, became aggressive when asked to leave and then dropped his pants.

He said the man then ran to Canning Bridge and jumped off the bridge before a patron jumped into the river to save him.

The Mandurah man has been charged with disorderly conduct, refusing to leave a licensed premises and an indecent act in a public place and will be summonsed to appear at Perth Magistrates Court.

It’s the second such reported incident in the local area in the space of a week, after another man allegedly exposed himself to patrons outside Bad Apples bar in Ardross on January 19.

A 39-year-old Golden Bay man was charged with common assault, disorderly behaviour in public and indecent acts in public.
