MELVILLE artists were among the winners of the Alfred Cove Art Society’s Annual Awards of Excellence.

Society life member Beverley Johnson, from Ardross, won the watercolours category for her painting Wetlands, based on her years living in Bunbury.

Winthrop artist Rose Seale’s Looking South won the pastels section.

“I was down at the Albany coast near The Gap taking photos, then I turned around the other way and thought it was beautiful, with lots of rocks and ocean,” Mrs Seale said.

The retired actress joined an art hobby group when she stopped work, first working in pen and ink and acrylics and is now inspired to try oils.

Marcia Morrow, of Bicton, received a highly commended award for her acrylic painting Yanchep Shore.

Cottesloe’s Richard Exham won the Best in Show award for his pastel Waves Breaking.
