Staff ReporterMelville Gazette

City of Melville A. H Bracks librarian Dominique Ward has beaten hundreds for the coveted WA favourite librarian crown with her colleagues saying it is her dedication, enthusiasm, energy and passion to her job that people love.

Ms Ward has a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology and Animal Behaviour.

She said she particularly loved being part of the Better Beginnings program, working with new parents, sharing findings on early brain development and the impact reading has on a baby.

‘I love being part of a public library that helps to enhance lives each day in so many ways,’ she said.

She felt honoured to have been nominated and then selected for the prestigious award.

‘I could not have been selected without the huge support and encouragement that I receive each day,’ she said.

Australia’s favourite librarian competition, a Love2Read and Australian Library and Information Association initiative, was a chance to recognise librarians who went out of their way to lend a helping hand.

The winner was announced recently to kick off Library and Information Week, which runs from May 20 to 26.
