THE vegetable patch at Melville Primary School has received a splash of colour just in time for summer with the completion of a brand new wall mural.

Mum of two Kylee Larsen designed and painted the bulk of the garden-themed artwork before enlisting the help of a handful of Year 6 students to apply the finishing touches.

School parent and Willagee business owner Charisse Parnell, who operates The Dance Collective, sponsored the project.

“We love the way the artwork emulates the values of our own dance company,” she said.

Ms Larsen said the school had asked for a professional looking mural that incorporated the work of some of its students.

“I came up with idea of using silhouettes because they’re nice big areas where could do the outlines and let the kids fill them in,” she said.

“We wanted a big and bold look and finished up by including some inspirational garden-themed words.”

Since finishing the Melville Primary School mural, Ms Larsen has also been approached about a similar project at Booragoon Primary School, which is due for completion, by the end of November.
