MT PLEASANT Baptist Church is encouraging members of the community to serve up some justice at a 24-hour table tennis marathon beginning Friday evening.

The Ping-Pong-A-Thon is a fundraiser designed to support a network of organisations battling human trafficking and the exploitation of young people in Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.

Young Adults Pastor Jonathan Anthony said anybody above the age of eight could take part but he was particularly keen for men to get behind the initiative.

“Research suggests that when it comes to the issues of sex trafficking and modern day slavery, the majority of offenders and perpetrators are men,” he said.

“We are trying to encourage men to be proactive in finding a solution rather than just being the consumers creating the problem.”

Anybody interested in taking part can register their own fundraising page on pingpongathon.com and will be assigned a three-hour time slot between 6pm Friday, October 14 and 6pm the following day.

Mt Pleasant Baptist Church is one of more than 80 venues hosting a Ping-Pong-A-Thon during the month of October.
