‘They were sighted by police towing the safe along Solomon Road, Jandakot for about 200m about 6am,’ Detective-Senior Sergeant Nigel Beverly said.

Police pursuit of the Pajero finished with the vehicle bogged in a drain on North Lake Road in South Lake, where the driver (36), of Yangebup, was arrested after a brief foot chase.

The Mosman Park man was arrested later at a Yangebup home and was charged by Fremantle detectives two days later.

It will be alleged he and the driver used a concrete block to smash their way into Coles Express Service Station in Mosman Park before using webbing tied to the Pajero to pull over and drag the ATM about 12.50am on October 26.

The Pajero was parked between bowsers and was not seen by highway traffic, before the ATM became stuck near the service station’s door.

Webbing was then used in an unsuccessful attempt on an ATM at Lakes shopping centre in South Lake about 2.55am, before the men allegedly broke into United Fuels on Leach Highway in Myaree about 4.55am, where they failed to open an ATM with an angle grinder.

Police will allege the duo entered City Farmers in Armadale Road, Jandakot and took the safe about 6am.

No cash was taken in any of the alleged raids. Both men were remanded in custody.

The Yangebup man faces aggravated burglary, attempted stealing, stealing, reckless driving, failing to stop, minor drugs charges and driving without a licence when he reappears at Fremantle Magistrates Court on November 12.

The Mosman Park man was charged with 22 offences, including nine aggravated burglaries, including a Brentwood delicatessen on October 13 and an O’Connor premises on October 19.

He will also face stealing, attempted stealing and motor vehicle charges when he reappear at Fremantle Magistrates Court on November 26.
