PERTH actress Katherine Langford (21) has picked up her first Golden Globe nomination.

The Applecross-raised, former Perth Modern School student scored the nod in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama category for her role in controversial Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

Langford plays Hannah Baker, who ends her life after being bullied and betrayed and leaves behind 13 audio diary cassette tapes.

The nominees for the 2018 award ceremony were announced about 9.30pm last night AWST.

Once nominations were announced, Langford immediately took to her instagram account, which has more than 7.8 million followers, to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes on the awards.

Her instastory also showed bouquets of flowers she received for her nomination.

The 75th Golden Globes are on January 7, 2018.
