Her teacher Helene Lu, from Mt Pleasant, said the All Saints’ College student recently participated at an international music competition, organised by the America Association for the Development of the Gifted and Talented, where she was awarded a gold medal and an invitation to Carnegie Hall.
Zoey was also recently awarded first prize in the America Protege International Piano and Strings Competition and a second Carnegie invitation, this time in May.
Helene said Zoey and her family were very excited about the New York trips and Zoey could not wait to tackle the big stage in front of a large crowd.
‘Zoey came to me when she was only three years old,’ Helene said.
‘At that age, she already showed some amazing traits ” the ability to stay focused for a long time and a rare ability to work very hard.
‘She was always so eager to learn and would persevere very hard. Since then, she has made amazing progress.’
Zoey has already won a swag of prizes at various local music festivals, eisteddfods and music competitions, often competing with those almost twice her age.
