Two dead after Bateman shooting

A 59-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man are dead after a shooting in Bateman last night (December 14).

The 67-year-old man who was found injured at the scene of the shooting died under police guard at Royal Perth Hospital today.

Homicide Squad detectives are seeking information regarding the death of the woman who died at the residence on Scouler Way.

About 6:55pm, police were called to a residence in Scouler Way.

They believed a person at the address had been shot, and that a man at the front of the address also appeared injured.

Information also suggested that a firearm could be seen.

Several police units were sent to the scene and St John Ambulance also attended.

When they arrived police found two people, a man and a woman, injured.

St John Ambulance confirmed the woman, who is in her 50’s, was dead.

The injured man, who is in his 60’s, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where he remains under police guard.

Police found the firearm and seized it.

The man and woman are known to each other and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
