WA Police have released terrifying footage of a 70-year-old man being bashed by a man trying to steal his car.

The incident occurred outside shops on Archibald Street in Willagee last Tuesday night.

Just before 9pm, the 70-year-old man was getting into his grey 2015 model Subaru Forester, WA registration 1EUK 555, which was parked in a carpark.

A man approached quickly and punched him to the head and face a number of times before pulling him from the car onto the ground.

The victim was then pinned between the vehicle and the door as the man reversed, almost dragging the victim under the car.

He was treated for grazes to his arm and cuts to his face.

The stolen vehicle was seen driving east on Archibald Street and was last seen on Leach Highway.
