PEOPLE are encouraged to donate tins of food on Sunday for Rotary’s Give a Damn Give a Can campaign.

In the past fortnight, Rotarians have issued more than 50,000 pink and white plastic bags to every home in the Greater Fremantle and Cockburn area, Rossmoyne area and Palmyra, Bicton and Attadale and City of Melville.

Collections start at 9am and three tonnes of food in three hours is the goal, Attadale Rotary Club president Carole Maxwell said.

“Householders are encouraged to donate a few cans or packets of non-perishable food to assist those in need in our community and the centres that help them by providing meals and food parcels” said Ms Maxwell.

The canned food will be distributed to charitable agencies including The Salvation Army, Anglicare, St Patricks and Uniting Care/ FoodBank WA and Women’s Refuge.
