Dr Smith, a Sir Walter Murdoch Distinguished Adjunct Professor, will visit Murdoch University this week for National Science Week and spread the word that science is fun and interesting.

Deputy Vice Chancellor research and development Professor David Morrison said it was a real coup for Murdoch University that Dr Smith, who was an engaging science communicator, was coming to Perth.

‘Murdoch University recognises the need to inspire young people about a career in science and research through engagement and role modelling,’ Prof Morrison said.

School groups and members of the public will be treated such sights as a flame tornado, wall of foam and the ‘Gherkinator’.

The Naked Scientist Shows are part of the Murdoch Aspirations and Pathways for University (MAP4U) project, which is aimed at enabling, empowering and inspiring young students to achieve their full potential.

The public will also get a chance to see the Naked Scientist Show when Dr Smith performs it twice at the Murdoch University Open Day on Sunday, August 24, at 10.30am and 2pm.
