Stitches of kindness

Customers, staff and students have banded together to offer a home comfort to those who lost everything when a bushfire tore through Yarloop in January.

Staff member Donna Lawrence said the store was approached by a Binningup woman who wanted to provide a quilt for every bed in the ravaged town.

“Everybody here has pulled together and contributed what they have and we’ve managed to come up with around 35 quilts,” she said.

“Most of the quilts were made and donated by students, but we have had some customers who have got behind the initiative as well.

“Making a quilt is a big investment in terms of fabric, time and the love you put into them, so it’s nice to be able to donate something personal.”
