Tea party for cancer research

Ms Back and her childhood friend Nicole Gorman will host their first biggest morning tea event on Sunday, May 26 and say it is for an important cause that affects everybody.

‘We don’t know what to expect but we know it’s for an important cause and everyone has been very supportive of us,’ Ms Back said.

‘It is very important to me personally as I have watched my mother suffer with breast cancer that progressed to a brain tumour and subsequently spread to her lungs.

‘I’ve watched her suffer through chemotherapy, radiation therapy, multiple operations and hair loss. She is currently in remission, but still has tests and scans on a very regular basis.’

The 23-year-olds started planning the event after getting in touch on facebook.’

‘I put a post up about wanting to organise a biggest morning tea and Natasha contacted me,’ Ms Gorman said.

‘Everyone knows someone affected by cancer and is a great excuse to catch up with friends while raising money for a very important cause.’

An auction and raffles will also be part of the morning tea festivities.
