The Applecross Senior High School staff member has been named as a finalist in the 2014 WA Education Awards, in the category of WA Education Assistant of the Year.

The category was introduced this year.

Education Minister Peter Collier announced the finalists last week and congratulated the 44 people who were shortlisted.

‘The education awards are a fantastic way for students, parents and school communities to celebrate the difference that school staff make to the lives of children in this State,’ Mr Collier said.

The winners in each category of the awards will be announced at a breakfast on Monday, December 1.

Winners will each receive $25,000. A portion of the winnings will be spent on professional learning.

Winning schools will receive $15,000.
