MADE and donated with love is the motto of the more than 100 women who take part in the All Saints’ Anglican Church of Bull Creek and Leeming’s annual charity knit-in.
Now in its fourth year, the knit-in is the culmination of 12 months of work for the women, who knit scarves, beanies, children’s clothing and squares throughout the year.
They then gather together at All Saints’ College to combine all of their creations, which are donated to five charities: Anglicare, Charity Link, Salvation Army, The Shopfront and St Albans Anglican Church of Highgate, which distributes the goods through its soup kitchen.
All Saints’ parishioner Linda Trefry, who organises the event alongside Robyn Ricket, said 2017 was the first year the knit-in had run over two days.
“We decided to add a Saturday for people who work and couldn’t make it midweek and between then and Wednesday we had around 70 ladies drop by all together,” Mrs Trefry said.
“We collected just over 1000 knitted items including beanies, scarves, rugs and children’s clothing as well as more than 500 squares which will be sewn into blankets.”
