HOMES and businesses in parts of Kardinya and Willagee have gained access to the NBN network following a switch on earlier this month.

NBN spokeswoman Ebony Aitken said the high-speed broadband network was on track to be available in two of three homes across Australia by the middle of the year.

“The rollout is certainly gaining momentum in WA with more than 440,000 premises now able to access the network,” she said.

“Nowadays, whole families are online at the same time, using multiple devices; it’s become the new norm.”

In 2015, NBN was made available to 1300 homes and businesses per week in WA.

Last year that rate increased to more than 2100 a week and this year it is forecast to reach around 5500 premises every single week in WA.
