Alfred Cove Wave Park: SERAG petition asks State Government to reject sale of crown land to City of Melville

COMMUNITY organisation Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group (SERAG) presented a petition to be tabled in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, requesting crown land not be sold to the City of Melville for the proposed wave park.

North Metropolitan Region MLC Alison Xamon MLC, Bateman MLA Bateman Dean Nalder and Bicton MLA Lisa O’Malley received the petition, which had about 1100 signatures, on the steps of Parliament House today.

In a statement, SERAG said that any request to purchase the crown land be rejected and for it to be drawn into the conservation estate.

The City is looking to purchase about 4000sqm for the propose project, although it has been stated in council meetings that the cost of doing so is not known.
