‘Having breakfast with our neighbours and our beloved hounds is a celebration of friendship and meeting some great people in our community.’

Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the City was happy to support the event.

‘This event is a great example of an event organised by the community, reflecting the diverse ways they recreate and interact and highlighting the important role pets play in connecting people,’ he said.

‘Yappy Hour is a fantastic initiative we are thrilled to support through our Friendly Neighbourhoods grants.

‘We hope everyone enjoys breakfast in the park and their dogs enjoy their complimentary biscuits.’

Jandakot MLA and well-known dog lover Joe Francis said the event was great for humans and their hairy mates.

‘You can always tell the size of someone’s heart by whether or not they enjoy the company of pets,’ he said.

‘Spending quality time with people is good for our soul and when dogs play together it’s good for theirs as well.

‘It’s another thing that makes our communities great.’
