China land grab worry

Daryl Binning, WinthropMelville Gazette

China realises that most of the food grown in its own contaminated soils is only fit to be exported to supermarket giants who market it under their generic brands, usually under the label ‘imported ingredients’. At the same time, China is buying up huge tracts of prime Aussie rural properties to provide a future safe food source for its own population.

By not supporting our own farmers, our supermarket conglomerates are sending them broke and forcing them to sell their valuable land.

Without any tangible assistance from governments at all levels, their only alternative is to take any offer – usually from overseas buyers.
