Good decision

Janice TeoMelville Gazette

I CONGRATULATE Melville City Council for deciding not to relocate the bowling club to the Sporting Hub. Sharing this venue with the bridge club, cricket, rugby, fitness and soccer groups would be to the detriment of an "age friendly” sport of bowling.

The existing community culture provided by the present bowling club would be lost.

Can the council consider extending the security of the land tenure agreement, say to a 20-year lease? Then the bowling club could function as a more viable business unit and be in a better position to upgrade its facilities.

The above decision will be to the long-term benefit of the environment, community bowls, ratepayers and the council.
