Offenders should be caned

LESLIE CUMMINGS, MorleyMelville Gazette

Our efficient police officers apprehend the criminals, only to see them let off with a cream-puff sentence prescribed by an archaic law. That is an insult to both the victims and the police.

The wretched offenders should be given a dose of the cane and advised that they will be given double punishment if they re-offend.

These cowards will certainly give a positive response to physical pain.

Let’s ignore the bleeding-heart brigade, the legion of do-gooders and limp-wristed psychologists who have all failed to solve this social evil.
