Opinion: Cyclists risk lives at roundabouts

Frank Granger, ApplecrossMelville Gazette

ANOTHER bike rider got knocked off his bike while riding around a roundabout last week.

I ask bike riders if they must risk their lives riding on the road please dismount and walk across the road on approaching a roundabout or a busy intersection.

Roundabouts are bad enough to drive a car around, as you will see careless motorists not slowing down on approaching a roundabout.

If common sense does not prevail, the law should be changed to make it illegal to ride a bike around a roundabout or across a busy intersection.

I again urge bike riders please ride on the bike paths – it may take a little longer to get to your destination.
