Opinion: F bomb used in Bert Jeffrey Park just not cricket

I’m a resident local to Bert Jeffrey Park and have heard from other “ratepayers” not local to the park that the noise from a game of cricket is not that bad and the locals should suck it up when it comes to the game of cricket that has invaded the once peaceful Bert Jeffrey Park.

Well the noise is very hard to ignore when every other word yelled is the F word, that’s for sure.

“F’ing bewdy” and “F’ing got him” are some noteworthy catches from my cricket education of today.

These were not quietly uttered, they were yelled full throttle all at the same time young children were playing on the playground.

For the best part of five hours every few minutes the F bomb came floating across the airwaves loud and clear.

I thought the game of cricket was reputedly played by gentlemen, or at least men that aspired to these values.

Let’s not forget the City of Melville has a responsibility here, they have enabled a cricket club which actually features the F bomb in its club song to take over the park.

It used to just be the crows I could hear Faaarking in the park.
