RECENTLY, I went to lunch at the new cafe in Ogilvy Road, Mt Pleasant.

First, I was annoyed I had to pay to park in this little suburban street.

Lunch was lovely and as we were chatting, I was told about the two 22-storey apartment buildings the council gave permission to build.

The people who have moved into the new eight-storey units had no idea they would be living in the shadow of these two towers, never to see the sun again.

Then there is the traffic with possibly 600 more cars in the street, with only one way out.

I suggest the people in Helm Street sell up now because they will be unable to get out of their drives.

How could the Melville council pass this with the traffic problems already in the area?
