Speed danger

Staff ReporterMelville Gazette

I am concerned about the excessive speed of traffic in Kitchener Road, particularly between North Lake Road and Norma Road, as this is a built-up area and the speed limit is 50km/h, which is often flouted.

From 7.30am to 8.15am, children are walking or riding to Booragoon Primary School at the east end of Kitchener Road.

A speeding car would only have to lose control and mount the footpath or children crossing the road and most likely we would have a tragedy on our hands.

I have written to and spoken to local Members, our local council members and have written to the local Police as well as the RAC management, but all in vain.
