Stick to 50

I WAS happily driving on an arterial road in Mt Pleasant that joins Canning Highway with Leach Highway and two weeks later received a speeding infringement for doing 59km/h in a 50km/h zone.

There were no speed signs and police told me that 50km/h is the speed limit, not 60km/h in suburbs, regardless of whether it is a side street or an arterial road. I live in Butler and was not aware of Mt Pleasant’s idiosyncrasy.

The moral of the story is beware of this Government’s push for revenue, do 50km/h if there is no signage… and have someone precede your vehicle with a red flag to warn people that a powered vehicle is following.
