True figure

Since over 85s are a tiny proportion of the population, this statistic is meaningless; you would expect the figure to be very small.

The only relevant statistic is the percentage of over 85s as a group that are involved in serious collisions compared to the percentage in the age group below 85.

My guess is that this figure will show the true facts, which is that over 85s as a percentage of their group have a much greater record of causing serious accidents than under 85s.
