AFL: Fremantle Dockers announce Hill, Pearce as new additions to leadership group

Bryce LuffMelville Gazette

DEFENDER Alex Pearce and midfield running machine Bradley Hill are new additions to Fremantle’s leadership group in 2018.

The fresh faces join incumbents David Mundy, Aaron Sandilands, Michael Walters, Lachie Neale and captain Nat Fyfe.

Pearce, who returned to action in Fremantle’s opening pre-season match after a long lay-off with a broken leg, said it meant a lot to have been voted into the position by his peers.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be at the club for a while now and learn from the leaders who have gone before, so I’m just hoping that I can do the club proud,” he said.

Hill, the 2017 Doig Medallist, said he was surprised to earn the honour after just one season with the Dockers.

“Obviously, I’ve only been here for one season and to hear that all the players rate me highly around the place, I’m glad to be a part of it,” he said.

“Hopefully, I can put in a lot to this leadership group and help the young players grow and help this team grow into a successful team.”
