Both the junior and intermediate WA teams, which also featured Applecross Calisthenics Club members, claimed silver medals in a competitive field.

Now in its 58th year, Applecross Calisthenics Club is the oldest continuous running club in Australia, as well as one of the most decorated.

Despite the club’s strong pedigree, president Sue Richardson said the 2017 National Championships were particularly successful.

“We normally go quite well but this year there were some standout Applecross girls who placed highly across |all of the age groups,” Ms Richardson said.

“Calisthenics is a uniquely Australian sport and nationals is really the pinnacle of our sport and the girls put in an amazing amount of work leading up to the competition.”

Calisthenics uses skills including exercise, co-ordination and dance.
