TWO local synchronised swimmers will don the green and gold after earning a place in the national team.

Booragoon resident Alessandra Ho will add to her appearances for Australia at June’s Synchro America Open in California after being picked in both the junior and senior team.

SupaNova Synchronised Swimming Club teammate Celeste Johns will join her in the junior national team after securing her place in the squad of nine.

The pair will then head to Budapest for the FINA Junior World Championships in July.

Alessandra, who made her international debut with an under-12 duet in Hong Kong in 2012, said she was excited to be part of the senior setup for the first time.

“I’m so happy and excited to be selected to be part of both (the junior and senior) squads, especially because selection in the senior national team has been my goal for a long time,” she said.

“I’m also looking forward to representing Australia and competing with the world’s best.”

In two weeks the pair has the Australian National Championships to compete in before their focus turns to routines they will perform in the United States and Hungary.

“Our goal for the America Open is to achieve high 7s and I think medalling may be a possibility,” Alessandra said.

“At the Junior World Champs our main goal is to improve our score from the previous competition while gaining invaluable experience.”

Alessandra, who trains with SupaNova teammate Celeste at LeisureFit Booragoon, said having the Myaree local alongside her was a great bonus.

“It’s really great being able to travel and represent Australia with Celeste,” she said.

“We are teammates and so we swim together practically every day.

“It’s nice to have someone close, especially since the majority of the other athletes on the national team are from Queensland.”
