RYAN Duffield and Paul Terry have accomplished more than most on a cricket field and now the pair is turning their eyes toward business.
Duffield, currently under contract with the Western Warriors and Terry, a Hampshire stalwart with two Test caps for England, are the masterminds behind Coachful, a new website helping players to seek out and connect with coaches and specialists.
Duffield described the initiative as a sports version of True Local, an online directory for Australian businesses.
“The idea really stemmed from a conversation between Paul and myself where I was venting to him about how difficult it was to find coaching clients,” Duffield said.
“He’s been coaching for the best part of 20 years and has built an extensive client list through word of mouth but for someone that is just starting out like me it can be extremely tough.”
More than 60 coaches, physiotherapists, fitness trainers and nutritionists have already signed up for Coachful but Duffield and Terry are on the hunt for even more.
“We’ve already got coaches from a whole range of sports from cricket to netball to basketball to athletics and everything in between,” Duffield said.
“We’re still actively seeking more sport coaches but we’re also particularly looking for people that are physios, sports psychologists, nutritionists or strength and conditioning coaches.”
Duffield said the pair planned to start marketing the website in earnest once they had more than 100 coaches and specialists on board and hoped it would become a one-stop shop for aspiring athletes.
“We want Coachful to be the first stop for people that are starting a new sport, looking to take the next step or have just moved to Perth from interstate,” he said.
