PERTH Scorchers opened its Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) account with one win and a loss against the Hobart Hurricanes at North Sydney Oval over the weekend.

Crafty medium pace bowler Emma Biss was the only Melville representative in the Scorchers line-up for the first two games of the season.

Biss worked hard fielding in the deep for the majority of both matches, before being thrown into the bowling attack during the middle of the second innings in match two.

The local product produced a cracking delivery to claim the wicket of dangerous middle order batswoman Erin Burns, leaving the Hurricanes reeling at 5-63 in the 12th over.

Perth head home to The Furnace this weekend for games 3 and 4 against the Brisbane Heat, with the club’s Fan Day festivities on Friday.
