Biss produced a Player of the Match performance, skittling the Midland-Guildford top order with 3-1 off her first over.
The match-up of batsmen Elyse Villani and Chloe Piparo against bowlers Emma Biss and Jenny Wallace loomed as a deciding factor but the rivalry that eventuated could not have been scripted.
Biss claimed the wicket of Midland-Guildford captain Villani on the first ball of the innings (caught by Wallace), and Scorchers squad member Bhavi Devchand on the very next ball.
The fast bowler could not complete the hat-trick but did take her third wicket on the fifth ball.
Lauren Stammers and Wallace opened for Melville, the former dropped twice within the opening six overs and a third time in the 14th.
Stammers went on to top-score with 52 off 54 balls, smacking four fours and a six on a dramatic day of cricket.
