MURDOCH University Melville (MUM) have made it five wins on the trot after dispatching Dianella White Eagles 4-0 at Murdoch University.

Three second-half goals from the hosts sealed a comfortable win which kept them in second spot on the State League Division Two table.

The result also marked the seventh occasion in the opening 10 games MUM had scored at least three goals in a single match.

MUM controlled the first half but found it hard to conjure up many clear-cut chances in front of goal.

But they drew first blood roughly half an hour in, when Mark Lucas flicked home a free kick at the near post to give the home side the lead at the break.

They doubled their lead soon after half-time when Dianella’s defence failed to clear their lines in the box and the ball fell to Sasa Slavujevic, who saw the ’keeper out of position and dinked the ball into the far corner of the net.

Up the other end, Alec Radonich was forced into a couple of saves before Lucas was denied a second by the post and Slavujevic whipped a free kick narrowly over.

The game was wrapped up when a botched clearance fell to substitute Grant Mowatt 12 yards out and he emphatically slotted home.

Josip Vujica was then denied by a sharp reflex save from Dianella’s goalkeeper, before Christian Long added the icing on the cake from a corner.

In other games, MUM’s reserves consolidated their lead at the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Dianella thanks to second-half goals from Yohanes Tadesse (two), Brett Tucker and Nicholas Del Borello, while the Under 18’s made it 10 wins from 10 with a 5-1 victory.
