THE Year 7 Kardinya Junior Football Team has been chosen to play a half time game at the MCG on July 11.
Coach Brad Karafil wrote the teams successful application, which has earned the team a four-day visit to Melbourne where it will tour the MCG, visit the snowfields and play a social footy game.
Team members and their parents began fundraising in November including events at Bunnings, raffles, gathering sponsorship from businesses and a regular canteen at their local ground, Alan Edwards Park, Gillett Drive, Kardinya.
The next fundraising activity will be a family fun fete day on Sunday 10am-3pm at Alan Edwards Park.
Kardinya Junior Football Club secretary Lynne Collins said Karafil had been training the boys since early this year as he wanted to ensure their fitness and skills were adapted for their first year playing a full field game.
Brad and the boys hard work and dedication to the sport was rewarded at the first game of the season with a win over Lakes at Morris Buzzacott, Ms Collins said.
