‘I’m excited to be selected,” Chaffer said. ‘It is an honour to be able to represent the country at the highest level.’

With a background in surf lifesaving, competing in Sochi has been years in the making for Chaffer, who just missed out on competing at the Vancouver Games in 2010.

Chaffer said she was disappointed after Vancouver but it made her want to work harder.

‘It made me want to become a better slider because I knew that was what it would take to make these Games,’ she said.
